    This is also in progress but i wanted to share. Several have asked “umm, since Drew is moving into the dining room, where will you “dine”???” Well originally this house (built in 1941) did not have the “dining room” anyway, that space was a one car garage, only later did they enclose it for dining and add on a two car garage..they only had the breakfast eating area SO we have a table and 3 chairs in that area..BUT definetely not large enough for having guests…SO i stored my hutch and dining chairs and moved the farm table onto the screened in back porch.. i am going to wax the table and i think it will be fine..it is really sturdy, scratched and well “not fancy” so i think it will hold up to the elements..if it seems to not be faring well, I will move it into storage too (because i love this table) but for now it is a great solution.

    In fact, i already hosted a play date/mommy brunch since the “table move” and it was wonderful..everyone had a place to sit and could easily transition to the yard and we could continue to visit and watch the kids. So i think this is a good move..i do need more chairs..i want a very collected, hodge podge chair look..non matchy chairs, different heights maybe colors..i will use some i have (ditch the white ones or paint them) but i hope to find some unique side chairs at Round Top to pull the look together..i have some rye grass seed to plant in a long container for the table etc..

    I’ve also noticed this is a great place to fold laundry because my laundry “room” is right off the porch..and Elton and I have been sitting there and actually talking while Drew plays in the evening..i am envisioning lots of things i can do at this table while Drew plays in the backyard..

    So there it is..my “fancy” al fresco dining or “recession dining addition” whatever you want to call it?? The first night Elton saw it he asked if we were having spaghetti for dinner and keeps making cheesy Olive Garden references;; oh well..it works!

    p.s. i added some pictures of the new blue chair i got at Round Top on Saturday..it is a great shabby robin’s egg color..i’ve been trying to decide if i want the chairs all different colors (brighter colors, think mexican restaurant;;) or all wood, black and white tones..but i am loving this blue..might add one more funky blue chair and call it done..thoughts???

    well my most recent client has moved in to his new bedroom..so far he is very pleased. In fact, he is sleeping better so this is a very good thing. We finally got his drapes “installed”..we did not do the plumbing galvanized rod thing but went with Allen + Roth brushed nickel rods instead (from this very elite store) seriously they were not cheap in my book but they look great with the grommet drapes.love the grommet panels..they are nicely lined, a good value. Still trying to decide if I should add a fourth panel on the french doors (opinions??)…not sure if you can see where my draper installer broke a window during the installation?? old wavy glass too..oh well, it was an accident and he is cute and sweet (and paid for the rearview mirror i recently ripped off of the car when backing out of the garage) so we’ll let it slide.

    But we still need to find large casters for the bed..it is old and has tiny casters but i want big industrial casters (that lock for this client)to add a little height and modern look…they have to have stems not plates..so that and a big star or something unique (hope to find something at Round Top next week) for above the bed..and we will be done.

    the client loved the cowhide rug but it was not vacumn or toy friendly so we removed the piece for a more simple look;;

    stay tuned for a post on the new “fancy” al fresco dining area we have created for this client.

    I found this wonderful site via etsy..i just love it! What is it about silhouettes??..i just adore them..as much as i love photographs I love this look too..

    This store offers everything from frame worthy 8 x 10 prints to mommy cards to invitations and flat cards..love. it. all.

    check it out..and if you want an actual silhoutte of your child, it is so easy now..you dont have to make an appointment at the local department store and get your child to stand still..just send a profile picture to this fab place online..they are excellent and so reasonable..i cant wait to have one done for baby boy #2!

    ..this is what we’ve been working on..we still need to hang things on the wall, get more baskets for the shelves, wipe down the chalk paint so its ready to play with finally, hang the drapes, put casters on the bed so it is higher, etc.. BUT it is coming together and Drew loves it..he said “oh mom, you just think of everything”..def my best client ever;; I still want to do some edits, not sure abou the cow hide or the red chair (but dad loves the chair) and the extra little white bookcase is SO functional and needed but there just seems like there is so much furniture with it included..we’ll see..the train table is NOT going to fit..i am going to slide the top under the bed or take it to grandma’s house..and frankly there is still not enough toy storage but it is MUCH better..i am going to buy a galvanized tub or some of these for the corner or end of bed. A better use of space would probably be these instead of the bookcase by the chair..may make that investment eventually..i love that they cant be dumped out.

    and notice the bedside lamp..with the stars stamped out..it was $79 regular price and i got it on sale at PB for $19!!!! remember the PBkids post, well this was a good day there..i did pass up the $129 organic sheets that felt great but they look JUST LIKE these from target ($19 instead) and i did not buy a single piece of furniture..so this is a bargain room!!!!

    p.s. notice Drew’s mailbox outside the door(gate) he said that is so the postman knows he has moved into a new place..he has played gate so much since it was installed on tuesday..and apparently it is a toll gate;;

    also, what do you think of the step ladder shelf to the right of the armoire..i brought those chalkboard pails in from the laundry room but I think three galvanized buckets or baskets might be better..this and the little baskets on the bookcase are going to be the main toy storage, and maybe one big tub or basket at the end of the bed. thoughts?

    Today’s fabrics are from Sew Mama Sew..a great place, they remind me so of purl, another great fabric source!

    p.s. Doesnt the brown polka dot remind you of eggs almost..i like it because it is different from all of the brown polka dots out there (can we say KELSO dot..which i love but it is everywhere;;). . .

    I love this bed….lauries antiques in Tomball has a great repro of this look they can get in several sizes I think..Lauries is a great resource if you are in the Houston area..she used to have more antiques and old accessories but still has some great things, pine cone hill and other linens etc..

    image from here (not originally i dont think but this is where i found it;;)

    IT’S A ANOTHER SWEET (and probably rowdy) little BOY!!!!!
    and we could not be more excited. it just feels right, I thought i might be a bit dissapointed about the “no girl” thing but I really know that God knows what He is doing and it feels so complete and just “right”..who knew I would be a “boy mom” crazy..notice the baseball and wine bottles in the background;;;

    I brought home these various “sticks of furniture” this weekend..i cant wait to get to work on them..isnt the pink table soo cute?! I love the color. and the blue bookshelf..love it. as is.

    I cant decide what to do with the dresser..i dont think i will paint numbers on it because of the knob placement. It would be darling painted red but the walls in D’s new room are red..so it will probably be chalkboard black, or kelly green (distressed)…any thoughts??

    this site

    ..thanks No. 35 for sharing;;..this is very “Henry” and perhaps more boyish than a fabric called “trellis”;;;

    Take a look at these little prints, they are 5×7 size, i’ve had them for 10 years (I know i bought them when still at Baylor so a lonnngg time ago)..i’ve always had them in these little shabby frames (dont you just my 1998 shabby paint job;;) I think i have another nest one but not sure where, i think the bird is from another set..BUT I want to hang three in the nursery (the boy version)..on Laura Ashley Stone 2 walls (think builder beige) would you do choc brown mats and white frames or something different?? and do you think the bird segs with the nest, looks out of place or what?? i could laser copy on of the nest to have three and keep consistent. Crazy to obsess over i know, but if you read this blog you are crazy to care what i post about anyway (or you are just nosy about what dorky things i am talking about and want to make fun of me;;)
    and next i will post my sad version of polyvore for this imaginary room..yes that is polka dot dress and would not be used in the boy room (but i have a similar brown check shortall so you get the idea, it also shows how it MIGHT work for a boy)no fancy idea board from this decorator..just a crazy pregnant woman obsessively brainstorming and dreaming.

    also notice the fabric under the nest prints, $2.48 tea towel from target (michael graves i think) I am thinking i might use this for a pillow or to cover shades for the light.

    also note, i recieved the waverly trellis fabric from fabric.com (had to use that coupon right) and it is different than my sample from Glick in houston..the glick version has brown outlines around the pattern and is more of a grey blue not tiffany..i like the brown detail but the brighter tiffany blue goes with more of the accessories, there are several different blues going on that might not work..but dontyou love the old trunk, it is trash from someone’s garage, totally free.,i love it but it will have to be sealed if used.
