$22 is not cheap for a melamine plate (in my opinion) BUT wouldnt this be cute in a child’s room on the wall..$22 is reasonable for artwork! they have great preppy and fun combos..check here..and on a side note, Cote de Texas is now doing a podcast with Linda Merrill and the Beach Bungalow 8 gal..the post on snarky design blogs is interesting and i am sure each episode will be good so check it out!

and it even has a despised road rug;;;..this rug is from IKEA and it might even work in Henry’s room when he has the need…i just cant believe how darlin it (the rug) looks and works with the cute banner fabrics and sophisticated trellis pillows no less..nurseries can be so wonderful![image via Ohdeedoh via DesignSponge]

Posted in: keeping it real

There is nothing like a fresh, clean, blank slate..Dad got so much done this holiday weekend..my mom was here to help and we had a great time. Yesterday we emptied the nursery, cleaned and Dad put a fresh coat of paint on the walls. Today we cleaned the baby furniture which had been in storage and loaded the room back..before i started dragging out fabrics and decorating mess i really enjoyed just looking at the blank slate..very peaceful, ahhh the possibilities..i almost hated to spoil it with the mess BUT that lasted about 10 minutes and then i started dragging out fabric..i even got two drapery panels made today… stay tuned for more!Apr8

My little boy spotted my 1970s dollhouse in the attic months ago…His daddy was not thrilled with the idea of getting it down BUT Drew kept begging “please let me play with your little girl house”..finally, one day last week i drug it down, ripped out the surfaces (the yellow check wallpaper was from my room ca. 1980..in fact, my dad used all of the papers and flooring from our home at the time..i sort of hated to rip it out, almost retro but it was yuck and not clean) SO I cleaned it and painted the inside a minimalist blue..thinking it would be okay for my boys IF I put it outside on the porch and not in their room…WRONG! I also worked with Drew to call it a “play house” when Dad got home..didnt work..Dad walks in and Drew says “look at my new DOLL house” and dad responds “you can play with a few days and then it needs to go back in the attic”…maybe baby #3 will be a girl and we can all play with it..and please no comments about how awful my husband is..I know little boys live in houses and build houses but he just isnt cool with this..i think Drew will live:: the point is..isnt it cute just all one color and simple!?! and it will look cute in the guest room upstairs;; Nana can play with it when she comes!
p.s. I am also thinking it might look cute bolted to the wall above my washer and dryer for shelving/storage??

I stepped into Calico Corners today for the first time in a long time. Things are a bit different..I like it. Much more special order fabric but it is fast and fairly reasonable..nice selection.I found this. I like it.
Do you like it as an accent with the blue trellis (from fabric.com)??
