Well it is Friday, and sweet Kelly is continuing her home tour with children’s birthday party ideas. I had a BLAST planning Drew’s first birthday in 2005 so I am eager to share…Also, baby Henry needs a break so we will let Big Brother be the star today.;;
I chose a vintage cowboy theme and it was really easy..here are a list of the basic elements and ideas:

i stuck with a blue and brown color scheme because of his outfit;; (and i found cute brown and blue stripe plates and napkins at Hobby Lobby that year..their party things really are pretty cute sometimes..

for party favors I used photo stickers from shutterfly but there are so many more options for tags and stickers now..check etsy, places like Sarah and Abraham and tiny prints
no bouncy castles yet..that is the joy of the first birthday..you can do what YOU want..this year (he’s turning 5) I may have to buy optimus prime pinatas;( and really the first birtday is about the child and his/her birthday but it is also about YOU and your husband surviving that first year!;;; (I think i read that here)

we had old bouncy horses and teepee for the kids to play in..

coca-cola in glass bottles in an old claw foot bathtub of ice..this was a hit (but took a LOT of ice so be warned;;)..painted the tub brown;; this was a cute idea BUT these old tubs are very heavy and i thought i would never get my husband to move the tub after the party was over..i should have just planted flowers in it i guess;;

. . . if you active 1 year old wont eat his cake in his high chair, put it in a wagon.

i made a banner from felt but again etsy is a great source for these..

FABRIC…cowboy fabric and polka dots (of course) on the table to ties the theme together..

I covered the tables with brown kraft paper and put out crayons..andcenterpieces were old kiddie cowboy boots with daisies..

So that was Drew’s first birthday…have fun celebrating your little one’s birthday whether it is the first or the fifth..but something about that first one (epecially for the first child) is truly a celebration of survival for everyone! Cant believe I get to do this first party thing again in 12 months..fun!

    I love the vintage cowboy theme. It's very original. My favorite element may be the claw foot bathtub filled glass bottle cokes. I love anything vintage! Do you, by chance, have any ideas for a little girl's 1st birthday party. I am anti-princess and that seems to be all that is out there! Yikes.

    So cute! I am planning a vintage cowgirl party for my daughter and you gave me some ideas.

    I did a vintage carnival party for her last year (I also participated in Kelly's blog party).

    I am completely in love with your blog. I found you by way of The Inspired Room. I wish I could subscribe to it though. I have toddler twins who are all over the place so free time is difficult (as I'm sure you can relate!) But a little reminder in my e-mail makes things so much easier.

    Your Henry is darling. I love that name too – good, strong name. Best wishes.

    So cute! Where did you find that outfit? I am doing a western party for my sons first bday in October.

    The outfit is Gymboree, not sure from which year. I recently bought one on Ebay… lucky me, I guess!

    Aww…another sweet birthday post….and again, I adore the polka dots….so I’m guessing this has been a theme throughout his half decade of life’s bithday parties??? Polka dots are my fav-o-rite!
