Remember I blogged about these fab Aiden + Anais blankets here?? Well i ordered mine from baby Gap and also bought some in a boutique..well now they have them at TARGET..yep, same brand..same price too but different patterns..they have cute ones with pink too and they have baby sleep sacks which is great for my climate..the muslin/cheesecloth fabric is just perfect for a summer baby. and YES i was tempted to buy more but i resisted..apparently i have a baby blanket problem;;
Ok so we love Target BUT i have to ask, how does it make you feel when you spend $$$ on say Waverly fabric for custom bedding or sofa slipcovers and then see “bed in a bag” at Target in this same fabric a few months later?? (I know someone this happened to and she was NOT happy)it used to freak me out (like “oh, that’s at target now it must be less than) but now i get excited when i see the designers and cool products they snag for the masses..i noticed they even have little Paul Frank tees for boys now and darling rain coats too!
what have you seen at Target that impressed you designer wise?? Orla Keily, Thomas O’Brien, DWELL..i mean why go pay for copper pots at the Smith and Hawken store when you can get similar SMITH AND HAWKEN ones at Target..or shabby chic bedding (ok the fabrics are different..interesting though that her high end lines have gone bankrupt but she is still in Target) sign of the times huh?

I can see how your friend felt…I say some pretty striped oversized towels at my best friend's home last summer, and asked if she got them at Target…like I did…she got a sick look on her face and said, "Nooo…I got mine at Restoration Hardware…Target carries these?!" Yep…same exact striped patterna and color…for FOUR times less than hers cost!! I love having something special, and do the "Lulu & Co." happy dance when I see a trend trickle down to Target, but I definitely can see the sore spot when you paid much, much more! I also had the same thought regarding Rachel Ashwell's company…things that make you go "Hmmmm…?"

I'm a big Target fan and always love seeing that they can get the big names to design exclusive stuff and make it accessible to everyone. Some of their shabby chic and smith & hawken things have jumped into my cart before. ;;; Those are some lovely baby blankets.

Loooove Target!
I like just about everything I find there.
The girls like the pretzels in the snack bar, so that evens things up, I think.

I like both Orla Keily and Thomas O'Brien. Honestly, I don't see why people pay the expensive prices for things. If I can't find it at Target, I don't buy it.
Those blankets are wonderful!

Target has been steppin' it up for years! Love it! Makes its seem a little ridiculous to drive up to Nordstrom and pay $28 for a kids T Shirt you can get at Target for 5 bucks.
Cheap is the new chic!
PS. I've keep coming back to your nursery for inspiration for MY nursery. I love what you've done on a budget!

My husband never can understand how I can make a day of sightseeing at Target! I've learned to be patient and wait if I see something I love at Pottery Barn, Restoration Hardware, etc. It usually shows up in some form at Target with a much smaller price tag.
On a different note, just saw your desk feature over at Whitney English. Loved it!

I can understand how some people may become a little "miffed" when something they paid original designer prices for shows up at Target, but since my budget has always been more "target-sized", I'm thrilled to see the stylish options at my favorite store.

The thing is stores like Target and yes, even Wal-Mart, have the buying power these days to demand quality products.
Sure, sometimes a fraction of the quality is sacrificed. But, a lot of times the quality is the same simply because the quanitity that will be sold is great enough to justify.
I'm so over "where" i buy things. If I like it and it works for my design and budget, I'm going to get it regardless.

Love Target!!! Almost made the same mistake & bought Restoration's towels but saw the same pretty wheat color by Fieldcrest at Target. Also,I was just in Smith & Hawken going out of business sale & asked the sales lady about Target. She told me that they bought the rights to their name & it is a different company. Did not know about Shabby Chic though! Thanks

I love Target for this very reason. I have a Michael Graves teapot that is one of the cutest things I've ever seen, but thanks to Target, I was able to own. i love Thomas O'Brien's designs too. It's so nice to be able to afford pretty things.
