I have a canon Rebel, and while I love the picture quality, it isn't a full frame camera. So when you start adding lenses, they "crop the photo" I wish I'd saved until I could afford the 5D, and just skipped the rebel altogether. I haven't regretted it for a minute. You can shoot in auto or manual when you are ready. You will be amazed at how much better your pictures are than with a point and shoot. He is precious!!
