A little mantle inspiration for us all….
(image from Real Simple}
{image from Southern Living} Practical? no. My son would SO pick at the branches….he would have airplanes hanging from it..but so pretty..And the budding branches in the vase.
The image above (from Just a Girl) illustrates the layering of frames, simply leaned and lanterns..boy the lanterns are getting popular…this is for you Melanie!

and i just love the white mat..simple but fresh.
hmm, I think I like white mantles..and white mats!

I love mantles. Mine is my favorite surface to decorate, b/c the kids can’t reach it so I don’t have to worry as much about child-proofing.
Great photos!!

okay, so inspired that I redid my mantle today! I love the look of leaning the artwork! It really is the centerfold of the room!!! Thanks for the inspiration!!!
Now, if only my garden was growing something that bloomed!!! How about a blog on how to get our outdoors ready for spring……I pulled the cushions out and cleaned the table tops and it is starting to look like my backyard again……sans the plants!

Love the looks, especially the simpleness (is that a word?) of the last three.
Holly–what do you think a good height for a mantel is? Our builder made ours way too tall and we are getting ready to tear it out and simplify it further. Should it be porportionate to the room (we only have 9 foot ceilings) or is it all personal preference??

The 3rd mantle you have pictured is Chris’ from Just A Girl. She published a blog post today about her gorgeous spring mantle. Thought you might want to know!

Would you please tell me the name of the wall color in the last photo. What a beautiful, restful combination.

Hi there!
Someone just let me know that my mantle was featured over here. I thought I’d let you know that it’s mine.
Sorry about the numbers–it was for a “price my space” post!
