I’m not really into rustic decor which is a bit odd since I live in Texas but I do love this old windmill wheel! It’s so large and honest and frankly dangerous if you don’t secure it to your wall properly.
It would add so much character to one of those huge McMansion living rooms..you know the ones, HUGE 2 story vaulted ceilings, very difficult to decorate. This would instantly add some age, history and interest! The entire room doesn’t have to be “rustic” or rural to incorporate a piece like this. Oh and it is 5-6 feet in diameter, I see huge old antique clock faces like this at Round Top which fill large spaces in new homes but they are expensive, this is only $250! That is a lot of bang for that amount of money. But like I said, please hang it safely!
Oh and you can purchase this piece of Texas history at Texas Trash & Treasures in Carmine, Texas (directly on Hwy 290 between Houston and Austin!). Visit their website here.
What unusual item have you hung in your home???

I found a trellis that I painted and hung over my sofa in the living room…..it is opposite a bank of windows, so I knew I didn’t want do to a mirror and couldn’t settle on art. When I saw the trellis, I knew it would be perfect!

I’m not a rustic girl either, but I do love bringing outdoor elements in…like my big huge zinc coated garden cross. You are right…something like this would really work well in a 2-story family room space. Love the way you see things!

Oh I would love this windmill since I live on Windmill Drive- it would be PERFECT! Except that I can’t justify spending $250 on a piece of broken, rusty metal to DH.

I want it! It would be great in our mini-mcmansion vaulted living room. Can you send it to me? Ha.

I TOTALLY NEED THAT!!! We have 20+’ ceilings in our dining/living area. I have one wall that I have been waiting and searching for just the right thing…and something different that not everyone would have. I think this is it!
