Burlap + linen Christmas stockings

It has been so fun to collaborate with Michelle of MAKE on this project!  HGTV.com loves this project too, they recently featured the stockings in one of their holiday galleries…check here!

When I saw these coffee bags (from this great local coffee company no less!) laying around Michelle’s studio, I knew they would make great stockings!  So we designed them with linen lining and accents and voila! So pretty but rustic too! Then we staged some fun photographs using our friend Christi’s beautiful mantle and light filled living room! I hope to feature her home soon, it is wonderful!

I *heart* her firescreen!

Check Michelle’s website for pricing and dimensions…Email her asap to get your order in…she only has so many bags and time to get these complete..you don’t want to miss out! Or maybe you can use this idea to make your own..though I warn you, burlap can be a mess to sew.

I am going to hang this long one on my front door. . . it is huge! (32″ long) so pretty with boxwood and other greenery tucked it.

Thanks for looking!

  2. WOW! thanks for sharing her stuff- LOVE LOVE those stockings. I noticed that she lives in Texas and does work in my area. I live in The Woodlands and just may have to call her for some slipcovers!!! yay!!!

  3. Fabulous! What a great idea! I have been pondering making new stockings for my family. This inspires me!

  4. Oh, I love them, Holly! They are a perfect mix of raw and polished. Rustic and sophisticated. That mix doesn’t just speak to me, it *sings* to me. Hmmm…where can I put one of these….

I, too, really like that firescreen. I’ve been on the hunt for one to put on my hearth to disguise the heinous gas log box…with the glass and brass. I painted the brass black to make it less noticeable. But it really needs something in front of the whole mess. I also am crazy about those topiaries. They look live, are they? I’ve seen some around but I wonder how hard they are to maintain.

(Speaking of topiaries….I recall that at one of Drew’s birthday parties….was there a cowboy themed one???…I think it was one of his early parties….by the entrance to the backyard, by a fence I believe, was a topiary in your yard….am I remembering right?? Was that a potted plant? Do you know what it is??? As you can see, I am STILL thinking about that beauty – haha!)

  7. Holly… your photos are beautiful! You and Michelle did a great job designing and MAKE-ing these fabulous stockings! Loaning out my mantle was the easiest part of this! So glad I got to be in on the fun!

  13. I heart her firescreen, too! I finally just bought one (that doesn’t even fit quite right), so I’m really wishing for this one!

    Great partnering on the stockings!

  14. Since I’m currently on a burlap kick (well anything burlap that doesn’t require actual sewing) I am loving those stockings!!!

  15. Love these, love the ones from canvas too, getting ready to make some of those but I have burlap stockings listed at my shop online, http://www.theurbanfarmhouseshoppe.com. I love your blog, read it often, and the stairs, saw this somewhere else and thinking about doing the same. I am so glad holly you were honest about keeping all this white clean, sorry for any misspellings, my 20 month old has ripped numerous keys off this laptop, LOL
