As promised, here it is, the simple instructions for the book page flower….fragile but so cute!
First step you simply draw out a spiral with a tail on one end.
then start rolling at the outside end of your spiral (opposite the end i am holding with my thumb on the left)
once you release the rolled up strip it will loosen into this and voila!
Attach to your package with dabs of hot glue..it will be fragile, I havent put my gifts with these flowers under the tree because of Henry but they are fun to put on a special package you are going to hand deliver.
Thanks to my friend Christi for figuring out this little projects and for sharing with me…and yes I am begging her to start a blog and soon! She is good!
{Some of you asked…the baker’s twine is from Anthropologie, several sources online have it and Paper Source as well but the Anthro has a huge spool for $16 and it is larger than most..i love it..as you can see i am putting it around everything!}
One last note, “real books” were not harmed in the making of this project. I only use books i really am not a fan of like Happiest baby on the block ha! or books that are damaged and I am upcycling…I would never tear into any treasured or “quality” books. I love books too which is why i love this project!
Enjoy!

How cute, Holly! I love visiting you. I have been following you for a while now. Also, {sort of} connected to you via Emily at jones design co. Your designs are warm and comfortably chic. Have a Merry Christmas!

I love this idea! I bought some old books at a garage sale specifically to use in craft projects. This is perfect and I love how easy it is. (I’ll probably use different twine. hee hee) So glad to have found your site. It is now in my Google Reader so I won’t miss a post.
Love, love, love these!!!!!!! They are so beautiful and you ARE crafty!! Would you be willing to share the template for the tag?;)

What a precious project! I found your blog via Cat’s iblog ornament post. I saw your tree topper and knew I had found a fellow book crafter. I’ve been known to do a little book “destroying” every now and then. I laughed when you noted, “no real books were harmed”, I posted a similar disclaimer on my blog when I made some hanging book mobiles:

I can’t wait to try these flowers. Hopefully I will have time to whip some up to decorate my packages. Love it!
Thank you, this is adorable! Did you make your own Merry Christmas gift tags too? I love that shape and am trying to figure out where/how to make that!
Hi Holly! I just found these today and I wanted to tell you that I LOVE this idea! I’m getting married pretty soon and my theme is books, so I’m going to make some book page flowers for decorations! Thanks for the how-to!
Thanks for posting this. I make journals out of old books, and I usually just throw away the pages, but now I can use some of them to make flowers.
Hi there ~ this is a fabulous idea! Just love the total look with the pretty tag. I’m going to so this for all my Xmas pressies this year. Thanks for your inspiration
