Word art

I love WORDS…just ask my husband!  And what do you know, word art has gotten so popular…this is my new piece from Sugarboo, it’s large, took forever to arrive and wasn’t cheap but i love it!

I have since moved it to the mantle!

I love the slatted signs from Sugarboo as well…

Keep A Green Tree

In fact, you can see Sugarboo founder Rebecca Puig’s house here (Southern Living, Sept 2010) This is one of my fave images from the article!

I love her son’s room..that chalkboard!

And see her use of it above her range, very sophisticated..who says word art has to be cutesy?! This would be a great look over a mantle.

Another great source is Red Letter Words…she has some wonderful items and watch out she has a hymn series coming soon!

And several of my clients have made their own and done a great job…with stencils and little acrylic paints, you can do scripture, song lyrics, a poem…anything!

If you were going to do a large piece of word art in your home what would you want to say?

  2. Okay, okay…you posted this on purpose to motivate me didn’t you?! 🙂 I’m going to get going on mine. PROMISE! Then I can be one of the “several” clients who have managed this. I must not be afraid to screw up!!

  3. I am a word lover, too. Words are so powerful! I have been thinking about trying some small pieces for our house — I even have the wood set aside. I think it is time to get busy!

  4. LOVE!!!!!!!! That new piece, such perfect words for your little fellas. Growing up my grandfather had a phrase printed out and framed he had used in one of his famous military speeches. We didnt have much word art back then, so I guess this was the equivalent. I used to read and reread and memorize every part of that speech. I didn’t know what it all meant as a child — a lot about integrity and service and love for your country but looking back it probably had a lot to do with why i joined the service. Just think what an impact this could make on your littles lives. 🙂 By the way, I have that article torn out and saved to memory in my heart — love every bit of it but did not know it she was the SUGARBOO!! I think we may be design soul mates.

  5. I made my own “word art” a while back. Here’s a link to my little project! I’ve got this hanging by the back door above our coat hooks.

I have a piece of salvaged wood leaning up against piece of furniture in my dining room right now awaiting these words from Proverbs 24:3-4 “By wisdom a house is built, and through understanding it is established; through knowledge its rooms are filled with rare and beautiful treasures.” I so want this to be true of our home. Now if i could just discipline myself to start this project! haha!

  10. I’ve always wanted to find an old interior door with a vintage crystal looking knob (my grandmothers house was full of them) with the words “Come on in but excuse the mess – we’re busy making memories.” I would hang it sideways above the arch that leads into our living room – which is always a mess :0)

  14. Hey Holly! Just met her today at market–too funny to read this. We were talking about her feature in SL and she said she was so glad she had no idea how popular it would be! She said it was all a blast to shoot, and had she known, she probably wouldn’t have had as much fun.

She also said she just moved….I hope she shares her new home with us. She’s a doll (and you know we are big fans of her work!)
