fruit and ice cream

Summer is about over so i thought i would share more on the fruit and ice cream inspiration for Henry’s little party a couple of weeks back….

Stacked cones so cute!

from the Navy Bean online blog

This image shows using cupcake liners..didnt work for me…but clever idea if you can get it to work.

I think it required more styling time than i had or had need of but it was fun to play with the cones…

You might want to get cone holders if you try this at home…

I really wanted to do this with homemade ice cream and jars but it is so hard to keep frozen and serve, i could see a mess in my future so i didn’ t do it!

From shepaperieblog.com

okay so back to my homemade photography + party (enough of those well lit professional shots from pinterest) and what I did do…

AND

Have any of you tried the fruit/cone thing???  Has anyone served a dessert in a jar, or any other silly presentation idea similar because you saw it on a blog or pinterest????

  4. I made cakes in jars for a picnic earlier in the summer – easier to transport and looked super-cute!!

  5. Yes, I used sugar cones to serve the ambrosia salad at my son’s grad party. It was a big hit. It was creamy, but had just enough body to stay put. Delish!

I’ve not done the fruit and ice cream in jars, but when I was in NYC several years ago we ate at one of the Sara Beth’s bakeries. They served their yummy chocolate pudding in a jar with whipped cream on top and one of their cookies stuck in that. I have been copying that ever since. She features that recipe in her cookbook that came out this year.

  7. We haven’t tried this yet…but are going to try it at Renee’s son’s birthday party in a few weeks. Thanks for the inspiration.

  9. holly, i made a rainbow fruit trifle for my daughter’s 11th birthday, inspired by this page (that i pinned on my ‘kids parties’ pinterest board) https://quick-dish.tablespoon.com/2011/03/15/double-rainbow-pancakes-double-rainbow-recipe/

it turned out pretty well, but the fruit did get covered up by the cool whip a bit. from top to bottom, i did strawberries, mandarin oranges, pineapple, green grapes, blueberries and red grapes.
