Shop Small

Pinned Image

Forget Target (at least today)…today is shop small Saturday…go visit your favorite small shops and one of a kind businesses..they are what give our small towns and big cities their charm and character. I learned so much about sprawl when studying historic preservation in grad school..I admit to loving my target but there is so much to be said for keeping it local when possible!

Watch this clip..very good.

  1. I love Small Saturday! So happy to see others spreading the “love”. Your pictures are lovely as always – makes me wish I were in the neighborhood. 🙂

  2. We did small business shopping on Friday and Saturday. They are the best places to shop for your “hard to shop for” person – at least in my case. I always know that I can find something that is unique – and I did yay!! I got some great vintage wrapping goodies too. xo

  3. Ash Blue here in Nashville (and on line) is a great small shop. (And of course I love all of the goodies at my store in Chattanooga.)

  4. I am from the Twin Cities and love shopping small! A couple of my favorites spots: Pink Door in Lakeville, H.O.B.O. At the galleria in Edina, and online shopping I am partial to supporting small studio artists handmade treasures on Sparklingup.com. Southern Proper monograms are so cool. Thanks for blogging about them!

  5. I shopped local all day on Saturday. I love Orient Expressed!! It is on Magazine Street in New Orleans. You can also shop online.

  6. Hey, I studied Historical Preservation as part of my master’s degree too! 🙂 I couldn’t agree more with this post. We live in a small (12,000) town and I always try to buy what I can here. Especially the big stuff! The more people that buy locally, the better the economy does in our area.

My fave small businesses aren’t as small as they used to be:
    Lisa Leonard Designs
    The Pleated Poppy
    Etsy (of course)

    Good post Holly!

  7. I love the look of the places you shared! I wish there were more small shops here in Vegas!
