I “met” the talented Lauren Leonard when she left a comment on this post.  Apparently she had used this wall light in her son Parker’s room so we emailed back and forth and i have been wanting to show y’all the room ever since! Finally, here it is!

The walls are BM Winter Wheat actually they are RUSTIC TAUPE. I adore the antlers and map and how the bedding is soo simple. Also notice how the headboard is similar in color to the wall..that is important in a small room i think and the trim is painted darker than the walls.

I love the pops of green.  This is what Lauren has to say about the room in her own words!

Parker has the smallest bedroom of our 3 kiddos.  To best utilize the space in his room, we put a closet organizer with drawers in his closet and I had a simple desk custom built to fit the space in his room.  I purchased his desk chair at an antique store for $30.  I couldn’t believe that it even had the same green color on it as his pillow and throw.  It still needs a chair pad!!  There are never a shortage of projects, are there?  And of course, that light is one of my favorite things in the room!!  It was a splurge for me but I knew it would really add to the “feel” of the space.  I saved on his bedding..I purchased it through Lands End at Sears.  Their prices are great. When I started to give him a “big boy” room a couple of years ago, I played it safe with light blue and then painted it BM Winter Wheat. I realized that playing it safe wasn’t working.  It was just sort of bland.  Even though his room is small, and because his room gets a lot of natural light, I decided to go dark.  The paint color alone instantly made his room cozy and gave it so much personality.  I painted the closet doors and trim color one shade darker.  If I would have kept his trim off-white it would have “screamed” against the dark wall color. I’m so glad I stepped out of my comfort zone…I am a firm believer that you should paint small rooms a dark color.  It is one of my favorite rooms in our house…I love being in there!

I like the desk area too..it has an industrial feel but still cozy..great job Lauren…oh and if you like this room you will  love one below (which you may have seen on hgtv.com or Pinterest) also by Lauren! Although Lauren is an advocate of cozy colors she also does white quite well don’t you agree??  The white board and batten is so wonderful but its the unique lights that really make this room sing to me..hopefully Lauren will pipe in on the comments and tell us about those lights!

Thanks Lauren for letting me share your wonderful rooms..to see more of Lauren’s work and read her blog visit here.

Parker’s room is great. I love the paint color, the pops of green, and that light fixture. And great tip on the bedding too – I’ll have to check that out.

I love that over bed light! Usually you dont see just one light over a bed, which I think makes the design so interesting. I really like those rustic lights in the “PLAY” room too. Great Job Lauren!

Love all of Lauren’s designs….every single one. Parker’s room and the bunkbed room are both so clever, unique, warm and great looking. And all of Lauren’s rooms are so cozy, it makes you want to live in them.
