Thanksgiving first

I am traditional.  I like Thanksgiving before Christmas.

Heirloom Philosophy

I am still enjoying pumpkins and burlap at my house.  I haven’t even hung the “Give Thanks” bunting but I will.  Can you believe Thanksgiving is in less than two weeks???! The photos are from last year.

I always love the pumpkins so much…hard to say goodbye to them.

And I love hearing my husband play hymns of Thanksgiving and praise!

And the dishes, oh the dishes. I just started with a few of the Woodland plates by Spode a few years ago..i mentioned to a client I loved it and she gave me one to start.  So sweet.

This year I am adding serving pieces from my friends at Boxwood Furnishings! They are having a sale and free shipping. Oh yes I can’t wait to see this pheasant platter in the mail! Check them out.

BUT even better than beautiful tables and china…is our God that is holy and good…His mercy will endure! This song had me sobbing  in church this morning. God is so good. And it was even more beautiful sounding at our church!

Enjoy the song and this season of gratefulness!

  1. I am listening to the song and others on the you tube. Thanks so much. What a blessing before bed. I too enjoy Thanksgiving. So thankful for my family, friends, good health. Blessings.

  2. Beautiful! And I am with you on having Thanksgiving before Christmas. I would love to begin decorating for Christmas now (since there is soooo much to do,) but it just seems wrong to me to totally skip over the season of gratitude. Love those Spode dishes!!

  3. My Spode Woodland dishes are one of my favorite sets. They are timeless, sixteen years and I still LOVE them and can’t stop adding to my collection. You will never regret starting your set.

I know decorating early for Christmas seems so ungrateful, but I had to throw the towel in this year and jump the gun (along with Shannon W). Having a luncheon for charity at the beginning of December will do that to a momma. It helps ease the guilt when we have second home to spend Thanksgiving and it’s still Thankfully decorated.

What a great addition to your post, that song! Beautiful. Can’t wait to see pictures from this years Thanksgiving and any new Woodland pieces.

Have a great week, maybe I’ll see you at the Theta Antique Show.

  4. I’m with you on this. I just now brought out a few of the Thanksgiving touches, and am just starting our thankful tree. Although I’ve started a few Christmas projects that I’m excited about, I definitely haven’t pulled out the Chistmas decor! I love your style!

  5. Holly – I stumbled across your blog through Pinterest and just love your style. I love everything French Country and distressed so feel in love right away. Now I come to see that you are a Believer, this made my day! Thank you for the encouragement and the song. Many blessings to you 🙂

  6. I love this Holly!!!!
What a great post! Touched me, too!!!
Praise God from whom all blessings flow!
    {hugs}

  7. So pretty! I actually googled your Thanksgiving table from last year over the weekend. I remembered it being so pretty. Working on a Spode collection myself 🙂 Have a blessed holiday with your family!!!

  8. I just stumbled across your blog because of pinterest and I love it. What I love even more is that because you posted that song I went from enjoying your thanksgiving table setting to worshipping Him whom deserves all thanks. And for that I thank you. Have a blessed Thanksgiving.

  9. Holly, I still remember that Thanksgiving table from last year. I love it then and love it now! Thanks for sharing it again. And thanks for sharing that song! How wonderful to be reminded that in the midst of all of the home decorating, cooking and planning for holidays, etc., Jesus is still the single most important thing. Thanks for that reminder!

  10. Thanks for the inspiration Holly- Time to pull out the Thanksgiving box and my platters. The Roundtop pumpkins are still hanging in there! We eat at Arnaud’s in NOLA, so no table setting for us. I’m sure the first Thanksgiving had some trout (almondine)! Setting the shop afterwards for Christmas decorating. Getting excited to pull everything out.

  11. Because of what God has given me to do (design Christmas cards), I have to put myself in the Christmas spirit pretty early, but I do love giving thanks! November feels like such a cozy month here in Franklin. I am loving it! Thanksgiving will be a little lonely because I’m so far form family, but I remain grateful for what God has done in bringing us here! Happy Thanksgiving, my friend! xoxo!

  12. Holly, what a beautiful post!! Your home is so lovely and that song is wonderful. I love this time of year too!! Happy Thanksgiving, my sweet friend.
