Well, the new year is coming like a freight train. I am always slow to let go of Christmas. I like to leave the tree up. One of my friends (you Angie) always says she thinks mamas (or women) in general don’t really get to enjoy Christmas until the day after when some of the work of shopping and wrapping and cooking subsides. I think she is right and I am in no hurry to take my tree down. Maybe Saturday.
In the meantime its little boys in pajamas all day long and lots of down time which we have all needed!
I get a bit melancholy at Christmas I must admit. I miss my grandparents and my hometown a bit. I miss Waco.

But the excitement of my boys (especially Henry this year..oh my!) make it fun. But I enjoy celebrating the birth of our Saviour. It’s so good to remember its not about our feelings or emotions or expectations but it’s really about Him.
And I am excited about the new year.
There are some exciting things coming down the pipe which excite me, overwhelm me, humble me…like this shop..will it have ten items and be very simple or go full retail..we will see!
its a crazy but fun life and i am grateful as this year comes to a close. Even for some of the tough moments.
So as I grapple with making sense of this year and gearing up for the next, I wish YOU the best!
I am totally with you on de-Christmasing the house. While I am taking down most today, I’m leaving the tree up just a wee bit longer. I’ll miss it’s magical glow!! Right now, one of the things I’m looking forward to the most is working with you on my family room-so,so excited! Hmmm, maybe there will be some goodies from your new shop we can incorporate in? I’ll be sending you more pics and ideas soon =)
Holly, I am so glad you all had such a wonderful Christmas! Kiddos sure do make it fun, Mu littlest one was five this year for Christmas and I think this is the most excited she’s ever been. It’s such a sweet time of year, indeed! I am excited for you about your new shop. I wish you and your family many blessings in 2013!

We have similar thoughts about this time of year – I’m always melancholy too, don’t want the excitement of the season to end, miss those who aren’t with us anymore, trying to accept the year that has been and look forward to the new year.

Your kids are adorable! I just finished vacuuming up the needles from our tree…what a mess! At least we got it out of here tonight! I am sure I will be finding needles everywhere for the next few days though! Best wishes for a happy new year to you!

Longtime lurker here – just love visiting your site! I’m with you in leaving the Christmas decor up as long as possible – which usually takes us right to the end of Christmas with the celebration of the Three Kings or Epiphany. So often busy Mamas can’t relax to enjoy the season until the Big Day happens – well the good news is that Christmas Day is the real beginning – there’s a whole 12 days to celebrate. So let the magic linger…. Christmas really ended on this past Sunday…I’m taking my stuff down this week.
