Stockings + boxwood

Adding these favorite things to our home this weekend.

I love the simple garland and monograms in white thread….I waited to the last minute to have these done…You can still see the hoop indentations on the stockings ha!  Hot off the press! I am still tweaking but I am loving the additions.  The fresh boxwood is from awholesale source I use but I heard Trader Joe’s has them in select stores!!!! The antique french mirror was a Round Top find in the spring and I’ve been planning this wreath over its since I carried it home!  Our ” O Holy Night” print just moved to a nearby wall! And hands down my favorite red satin ribbon is from Charles Clay & Sons, you can usually find it at Container Store.

The last couple of years I used these gorgeous stockings by MAKE but now we finally have four! And I think the boys will grow into them better than burlap with linen ruffles (these even have a more “boyish font” monogram on the verso incase they want to display those later) BTW, I think i have convinced Michelle to offer a few more coffee bag stockings this year if you are interested! (let me know in comments)…I also can’t wait to show you some special stockings from Etsy this week…maybe tomorrow!  Meanwhile it’s all boxwood, burlap and blue and white here. I was so relieved to unpack my Christmas boxes from the attic and see my silhouette “ornaments” are still intact..no warping or wrinkles..so glad I can use those on the tree again! Glass ornaments are still packed away for safety! Maybe next year!

I had just enough plaid ribbon for this project outside on the windows and front door!

Hope you had a great weekend…for me it’s time to put away the cares of the world and focus on Advent and the birth of my Savior.

  1. Hi Holly. Your home looks beautiful 🙂 how do you keep the greenery on the mantle fresh? I want to add fresh greenery to my mantle and indoor archways but am afraid it will dry out fairly soon… I also live in Texas. Thanks for your reply.

  2. absolutely perfectly gorgeous!!

  3. I’d love to change out our stockings but my family might revolt.

  4. love your boxwoods! going to have to stalk both TJ’s to see if anything is left.

  5. Jan you are so right.it will probably dry for sure..i might have to replace mid month (just the mantle) or get some more from the woods to add in..it will be so dry by christmas.

  6. I picked up two of the boxwood wreaths at TJ’s this weekend. They are huge, and heavy, and were only $9.99 each!

I love how you did the ribbon on your front door wreath! That’s very unique and now I *need* a square wreath…… 🙂

  7. Just beautiful, Holly!

  8. It is all looking gorgeous. I love the ribbons you used (I’m a ribbon hoarder) and the boxwood is beautiful. I have a faux boxwood wreath, but would love a fresh or preserved one. The silhouette ornaments are beautiful (I made some for my tree this year as well =)

  9. Thank you so much for the reminder of what this season is actually about. I have been so focused on decorating that I have totally forgotten, at times, what this season is about and preparing my heart for it. By the way, I’ve been so inspired by your silhouette tree, I’m creating one of my own!

  10. Hi Holly! Where did you get the new stockings from? They are gorgeous!

  11. Your home is so beautiful!!! I just love the boxwood wreaths. I wish we had a Trader Joe’s here. I also love the way you did your ribbon on your front door. Pure perfection!!! Still love your tree too!!!

  13. Holly…everything is wonderful! Where did you get your new burlap stockings with the adorable buttons? Please share!

  14. I bought the burlap stockings from a place in Houston called the Monogram Shop on San Felipe..they had a two week wait onthe monogramming so i took them PaperDaisy out in Cypress for two DAY monogramming. I lucked out that i was able to get them pulled together so soon.i have had them in my mind for a while for along time but never pulled the triggero..so glad i finally did.

BUT it would be easy to make your own or have your sewing person make some and thenyou coud stamp with white paint letters or use felt applique or your own stitch!

  15. Holly your home is just beautiful! I love the boxwood tied with the beautiful traditional ribbon! I also love that you have left some things packed away for perhaps another Christmas. I think sometimes I have a hard time editing what I put out at Christmas and then it all gets out and can seem overwhelming at times. I like the idea that some of the Christmas decor can take turns in be put out. Have a wonderful week!

  16. Hi Holly,

  20. I love your decorating, as always, Holly! I am headed out to TJ’s today to look for anything boxwood 🙂 As for stockings, I’ve added a bunch of black and white to my Christmas decor this year and am thinking about doing a black and white ticking stripe stocking for my son – poor guy currently has a hand me down bird stocking.

  21. I love it all! I just love what you have created for your home.. And, I appreciate your thoughts on now it is time to prepare for our Savior’s birth. I am trying to do the same in our home. We are pulled so many ways this time of year, thanks for the words of encouragement.

  22. So pretty…monogrammed stockings, tartan plates with your initial and red chairs on the porch with fresh trees…does it get any prettier than that? Oh and your wreaths are pretty fabulous too!

  25. So lovely, Holly! Your white walls and trim look so fresh and modern with your traditional pieces and blue and white china. I have cherry and mahogany pieces in my dining room with lots of Mottahedeh Blue Canton china….white walls seem the way to go but which white? I have BM White Dove trim all through the house so would that be the one or what would you suggest? Thank you in advance!

I ran to The Woodlands Trader Joes at lunch to get boxwood. They get some every day he said but didn’t want to miss out. Then stopped at The Container Store on the way home & found that beautiful red ribbon. Thanks for those tips. Just so glad TW has both stores here now. Love your blog!!

  32. the new stockings are beautiful, Holly!
I love your boxwood…I got my wreaths from trader joes…love that place. 🙂
Need to find a container store for that red ribbon for next year….surely ATL has one. 🙂

  33. Hi Holly,
Any word on the coffee bag stockings by Michelle?
    Thanks!

  34. Simple, yet so beautful. I appreciate that you added that you wanted now to focus on Advent and the coming of our Savior. I see so many homes beautifully decorated for Christmas, without any mention of why Christmas is celebrated!

  35. Love the look Holly! I absolutely copied your last year mantle this year. Made my cousin run to hobby lobby (she lives in a town that has one) and pick up the nutcrackers. Anyhow, a tip for some of your readers that asked about keeping greenery fresh – I throw mine in the pool, our tree too actually, for a few days and it stays fresh the entire season! I snagged those TJ boxwoods last week, love them and for just 10! Just love your style!

  36. gorgeous stockings!! love your new web design too, sweet girl!
