Have y’all heard of the Martha Stewart American Made awards and conference that MSLO is putting on…pretty cool concept. You can vote for your favorite creative entrepreneur in the country! Very cool stuff.
American Made spotlights the maker, supports the local, and celebrates the handmade. It’s a movement made up of people and communities who have turned their passion for quality craftsmanship and well-designed goods into a way of life. For more than 20 years, Martha Stewart has celebrated this spirit of innovation in the pages of her magazines. Now, through American Made, Martha Stewart and the editors of “Martha Stewart Living” are spotlighting the next generation of great American makers. The journey culminates in a signature event in New York City where makers from across the country gather to discuss, create, and explore. It’s here that our 2013 American Made winners are honored for innovation and excellence in their field. We’d love you to join us in selecting the Audience Choice Award winners. But this movement isn’t about a single event. We believe we are in the midst of a shift in our culture where creative entrepreneurs are defining a new American economy. From Detroit to Des Moines, Spokane to St. Louis, people are choosing Main Street over mini-malls—supporting the local and the handmade. Our country’s makers are sparking this change by taking a leap, banking on their creativity and craftsmanship, and living their version of the American Dream!
Nominee Shop-Keep from Greenville, SC in the craft category
So here is the deal, we can vote up to six times per day for our favorite products and businesses. Vote across all six categories: food, craft, design, style, technology, and garden and audience choice. Share with your friends to help your favorite maker win.
One of MY favorite people is on the list! Slipcover artist and my friend Laura Siebert.
This is one talented family and Laura is carrying the torch. She is so excited about what she does…recently we were having coffee and talking about business and design and she said “I am just so excited about slipcovers” talk about an inspiration. It is so awesome to meet and know people that have a passion for what they do!
Just look at her work…
If you live near Houston, Texas, you are in luck and can work with Laura. She is professional and like I said passionate about what she does…she comes to your home and cuts the patterns and you do not even have to move your furniture to her studio! It is a very easy process and my clients are loving her!
So please vote for Laura and also check out my blog sponsor MirrorMate, they are nominated as well. MirrorMate is the brain child of North Carolinian Lisa Huntting. She came up with the idea when she moved into a home with plate glass mirrors that had no character. MirrorMate frames allow homeowners to order from a variety of frame styles and install and update their own frames within minutes, without a carpenter.
Each frame is made in their factory in Charlotte. I love the concept and fact that these are made in America. So proud to partner with them on my blog! You can vote for MirrorMate frames here.
Barn Light Electric , another one of my sponsors, is also nominated! Many of you are familiar with their work and love their style just like I do!
You can vote for Barn Light Electric here!
So congratulations Barn Light and others!
I love what each of the businesses do…their creative and enterprising spirit! This is the stuff that makes our country great so please read here about the American Made awards and support these wonderful people and businesses!
God bless America and the hands and creative minds that keep us running and inspired!
