So many fun things going on, hard to know where to start . . .
Including work on this home above near Magnolia, Texas. I have several new builds going on and its very exciting to work on these homes! If you follow me on Instagram you saw some wallpaper photos this week…that is at this brick sidewalk home..hopefully the owners will let me show you more as it nears completion! The team at Heartwood Custom Homes is doing an amazing job. I love that they don’t have a flashy showroom but they have been building homes in Texas for generations. This is what you want in a builder y’all!
Texas Antique Week (originally known as Round Top Antiques Fair) is also ‘coming like a freight train’ and will be here soon! And good news, this year Easter is late so no conflict with the spring show. You can see exact dates for each show here at this site!
I know one of the things on my wish list this show is a new old pine hutch or welsh dresser as some call it…mom and I have combined furniture and sold some things and this is at the top of the list for our kitchen area! I am trying to prepare her for the sticker shock.
Hopefully I can find one that is thin but its not likely..we will see, the hunt is on~
Another fun project I am working on is major remodel in Bellville, Texas. Its a craftsman farmhouse and involves a lot of complicating factors but it is all going to be worth it..studying these old images and details have been crucial~
The owner is trying to decide between a Wolf range and french range….do any of you have a LaCanche or La Cornue?? What do you love or not love about it??
Back to Texas Antique Week, I am toying with the idea of offering a shopping adventure/mini class probably at the Marburger show, unless I can find a bus lol (don’t laugh I might). Stay tuned if you are interested in that..the tentative dates are 3/24 and 3/31 both on Fridays!
And last but not least I hope to share more of our new home soon. We have officially been here two months and almost (maybe) unpacked. Some things you never unpack right?? lol. We are still putting things away and hanging things on wall…it takes TIME for sure but I am trying to practice what I preach and not rush or get flustered (which is sooo hard..this is very good for me to go through, builds empathy for my clients)..A TRUE HOME TAKES TIME..it can’t happen in a one day install. SO thank you for being patient!

Weighing in on the La Cornue – Pros: They look awesome! LOVE the middle burner – it boils water in a flash! I love all of the baking options on the oven on the left (convect, etc). The oven on the right doesn’t have those options. The burners have great control. CONS: The ovens are small. You can stack pans, but you have to use a smaller sheet pan. My bigger jelly rolls won’t fit. You can’t look through the door to get a visual on what’s cooking. I would stick to the Wolf (have had on of those before too) if you cook a lot, but the La Cornue if you don’t cook much and want the look. The LaCanache is incredible…just really pricey! Hope this helps!!!

I have a pine hutch on my radar too. I’ve been looking for almost two years.
I was just looking at LaCanache yesterday. Really just dreaming. I’ll likely never have one or even a Viking or Wolf. They are just gorgeous. I don’t know how well they cook, but they are pretty to look at. The La Cornue is too busy looking for me personally. I like that the LaCanache is more simplified.

Love me an old pine hutch! I just picked one up at Leftovers last weekend at their Warehouse sale; it needs some TLC but I still love it! I’m actually planning to wax it this afternoon out in my garage. 🙂 I would be interested in a class Friday the 31st if you were to host one.
