You’ve seen this blogger’s amazing kitchen and bathroom redo on my blog and others, and even in a national magazine but have you seen her etsy shop Coastline???? Grace is so talented and nice.  Her burlap creations are the first of their kind on etsy.  Just this past weekend I saw burlap runners at Pottery Barn but hers are much cuter…some have scallops which i love and some have white accents..i LOVE white with burlap..so fresh.

and pom poms. love the pom poms..

I am about to have a wing chair slipped in simple ticking stripe for my living room..So i love this runner below too..hard to decide which is my favorite.

and banners..she makes banners too..I have a banner addiction.  You  may have noticed at Henry’s birthday party.  Those finally had to come down.  But lucky me, look what just came in the mail?!

Just in time to spruce up my porch and get over the post party “bare porch” blues…thanks Grace.  Y’all be sure and check out Coastline and Grace’s blog..you are sure to be inspired!

Linsey and Tricia did great posts recapping the event last Saturday. Check out here and here. Here are a few more shots of my favorite things at the Mini Flea….Like this cute chair by Tricia!

…and lots of pillows and frenchy inspiration from Linsey!

Pretty things from the Nest, a great store in Houston…

..The lovely sound of JD and Linsey’s fountain in their backyard..which is like a courtyard..perfect spot for our little sale..i just love this area..every time you step out her back door you think it is raining because the fountain has such a tranquil sound…very calming.

…and the yummy muffins and lemonade donated by Whole Foods in support of the charitable aspect of the event.

    JD jazzed up the lemonade..yum~!

Meeting blog readers and shoppers like Ian and his sweet mama..look at his cheeks…so adorable!

…and this cute shopper below..she and her mama went home with one of my favorite pieces…a vintage trunk with the most wonderful robin’s egg blue finish and bamboo accents!

And last but not least..seeing the women pictured below was such a blessing…these are my relatives!  They missed my Granny’s funeral because their own mama is not in good health but they live in Houston and were able to attend the sale..it was so good to see them..love you Walker women!

    Thanks again for everyone!

Well I am thrilled to announce the Mini Design Flea was a great success!  I quickly realized there wasn’t anything “mini” about the event..people were excited and it was a lot of work!  BUT it was such a delight to do an event with Tricia and Linsey, they are truly great people. We all have different strengths and skills and it worked out great! (Can anyone hear the Wonder Pets theme playing in the background?! Or maybe Charlie’s Angels?)

Linsey made us these cute tees with our logo on the back (and names on front, watch out Laverne!;;) and Tricia’s mom made us cute little aprons to stuff pens and tags, etc…so sweet.

    {Tricia, Holly, Linsey}

We had to really hustle to get things ready by 9 am and we had people waiting at Linsey’s gate but we did it and it was fun though just a tad hectic at first and quickly a “little warm” outside. Luckily we had fans blowing, lots of shade, a beautiful setting  in Linsey’s back “courtyard” (more on it later..i love her yard!) and yummy lemonade!

I will try to post more photos throughout the week….in the meantime, a big thank you to JD and Linsey for allowing us to have the event in their beautiful home and to all of the friends and family that helped with the event.  I also want to thank all of the blog readers and locals who came out to see us and shop!  It was so fun to meet some of you..please leave a note in comments if you attended on Saturday and let me know how you found out about the sale!

The Design Team has not shown or discussed much going on with Hyacinth’s room over at the Pioneer Woman blog but we’ve been working and forming a plan.  Then America voted on the paint color for a wall that may or may not get painted…So its been interesting and well frankly, I am a little scared to show this, what if there is a revolt, ha! But here it is y’all, ideas for Hyacinth’s living room! Our vision..texture, pattern, lots of art and photography and classic modern pieces but pulled together in a casual and eclectic way.  Remember, the Art of Improbable Mish Mash… This is just the big picture/brainstorming/jumping off point..soon she will show the big and I do mean dramatic mantle wall drawing…it is going to look so different…so let this tide you over and check back soon…very soon we promise.  In the meantime, see what kind of funky little things you can find in the board…

Oh and Hyacinth and I recorded a podcast at the beginning of our adventure…before we emailed constantly and talked by phone daily. I’m not near as nervous now when we talk . Not much is revealed in the podcast except (1.) Hyacinth is funny (2.) ummmm, I think it’s all ok!  Just click below and enjoy! It’s not earth shattering but it is fun to hear Hyacinth talk about her room.

Be sure and check out the most recent post about Design Team Hyacinth on the Home and Garden channel over at the Pioneer Woman. Today, Hyacinth will introduce Layla from the Lettered Cottage as well as our ideas for paint color in one of her zones!  Oh and by the way, the black suggestion is for chalkboard paint..in fact, any of the colors could be mixed as chalkboard paint.  We think this would be fun for her family!  See what you think..she even wants you to vote!

She also shares her newest element to the room..this little fella, courtesy of the Pioneer Woman and her mad photography skills!  FYI, a littlie birdie just told me that the Pioneer Woman will be on the View this Thursday!

Back to the calf, I actually love him and think he will look great.  To see all of the past drama, philsophy and photos (also known as our challenges and inspiration!;;;) related to Hyacinth’s room, click here and for Melissa’s perspective visit this post on her blog. A true pioneer woman herself, Texas artist D’Ette Cole is providing wonderful inspiration for our new friend Hyacinth’s room. D’Ette is well-known for her amazing store in Austin, Uncommon Objects on South Congress (SoCo), and her fabulous show at Round Top Antiques Fair, called CLUTTER. Cole has since moved on from these retail endeavors and has created Etta Industry to house all of her creative work…everything from styling Nancy Griffin’s album covers to private design work. In fact, Haskell Harris over at Garden & Gun, recently did a feature on Cole. Check it out here.

Bottom line, Hyacinth likes quirky, eclectic and modern.  But not Kelly Wearstler glam modern.  No sir, we like cows mixed in with our modern style.

So we talked back and forth, I showed her Cole’s 2008 Cottage Living spread “The Art of Improbable Mish Mash” and we have found common ground! Hyacinth is all about “mish mash.”

In fact, we’ve got so much “mish mash” going on… this might be the number of bottles the Design Team empties before we finish this room!

Just kidding.  We love you Hyacinth.

And I can’t wait for y’all to hear soon from the two other team members, Layla and Melissa, about this room. They have some amazing talent and philosophy!

    Stay tuned.

You’ve heard the Pioneer Woman Cooks right??  Well she also has the coolest BFF on earth.  Her name is Hyacinth and she needs some help with her family room, she’s been on quite the adventure!  Hyacinth has a great decorating philosophy and shopping taste but like us all, has also hit some bumps with her room. You will hear more, so much more in coming posts..but for now I am thrilled to present:

..Yep you heard correctly, I am so excited to present this team doing a little e-decorating on the Pioneer Woman starting today..go check it out!  It is going to be fun and inspiring..how could it not be with the two fab bloggers pictured below on board! This must be how Barbara Walters felt when she debuted The View!  Well maybe not but it sure is fun for this little blogger!

Thanks Layla and Melissa for joining me on this wild cyber ride into Oklahoma ranch country!  Check back often to see what happens.

This post is not about wallpaper or fabric, though I love flowers in both places.  Nope, this is my attempt at a fashion post, or at least an ACCESSORY post.

Usually I read Melanie, Erin, Seleta, or Lisa for fashion tips and inspiration… I am sure there are MANY more fashion/clothing blogs out there, these aren’t primarily fashion blogs, but they    are on my radar for whatever reason and always inspire in big or small ways..

OK so I started thinking about this because we had a little event at my son’s school last night.  I knew I wanted to wear a plain black BR dress already inmy closet…very plain, sleeveless but not too short, no cleavage to wrestle with all night, something comfortable but classic.  I also knew basic black meant I had accessory options.  Have y’all seen ALL of the pearl and ribbon options out there now..i love those mounds of pearls!  But for today I will focus on the FLOWER! (this is dedicated to you Missy, great job on the flowers for the fundraiser last night!)

Option #1  The Kentucky Derby necklace from Anthropologie (only $10..I think was on sale..otherwise why would anything in Anthropologie be under $10 unless its a coffee mug or drawer know right?!) oh and I gave it the name because I sort of feel like a winning horse at the derby when I put it on my neck, in other words, an idiot..but it IS cute and it has cute rhinestoney, vintagey buttons in the center of the flowers, and it is grey my new fave color and its from Anthropologie, you get the drift..but my husband stifled a laugh when he saw it so probably not a good choice.  Maybe with a plain black tee and jeans or maybe I will cut it up and make cute shoe clips like these I saw on etsy

    Option #2

Pearl and flower necklace from Target.

I really like this necklace in theory but with the black dress it was just too predictable and granny..I think it would look much more fun with a denim jacket and tee.  But that’s just me. Thoughts???  it is cute!

    Option #3

plain Anthro “looking” flower from a cheap-o mall store.

How did I decide?? Well obviously I took my options out on my back porch or the “dining room” as I like to call it and I just tried everything on my mannequin friend?  A little crazy I know but it works.  And yes I know I need to get Mrs. Mannequin indoors. It is a goal to get her in my room as an accessory catcher or up in my office as a ribbon catcher.

Back to the outfit.  This is what I decided. The good ol standby chunky pearls, flower and shawl.  Safe and comfy.

    {please note: my mannequin has a smaller waist than I do..no fair, she looks better in things…oh well}

What fashion blogs do you read if any??  What trends are you excited about right now??  tired of…. ruffles, flowers, pearl/ribbon details??  Share in the comments!
