Around the house + upcoming holiday fun

Well I have had a sick boy all week.  Not fun and yet I have enjoyed just being home while at the same time stir crazy and worried about my boy.  So instead of doing laundry and cleaning I have been piddling around the house, dragging funiture and fabric around and doting on Drew.  Really inspired by this photo (source unknown) below for the dining room’s liberation back to its intended use (does that phrase make sense?? the dining room is going from a child’s room back to its original intention..a dining room..though originally i think it was a garage in the 1940s..anyway)  My husband says the light i ordered is too big and i keep showing him this photo..He’s not convinced. oh well! I guess he will get used to it!

Thinking about painting my pine hutch Martha’s bedford grey and the walls a greige color..dont want to get too swedish though…

And the ongoing drama of the boys’ rooms. This photo has been inspiring….

I have also loved this Golding “rodeo” print for years..don’t get me wrong I dont want my boys to have a themey cowboy room..NO! but I love how this room uses the print without anything else too cowboy..I promise I wont do zebra headboards for my guys! But i am going to make short drapes (that just brush the  bottom of the windowsill) out of this print (I call those LEAVE IT TO BEAVER drapes, because can’t you imagine the beave having curtains like that in his room!)..I have toyed with this fabric for years but resisted because I live in Texas and didn’t want the same old boy’s cowboy room but i finally embraced it, i love this fabric just to find it has been discontinued..i think i got the last few yards on the planet!

Enough about ME, I want to show a few things coming up soon..First off I will be having  a HOLIDAY with Matthew Mead magazine giveaway soon so check back for that on Monday!

And last but not least, I can’t wait to introduce you to these fabulous stockings,  a limited number will be available, details coming soon!

So check back next week and please pray Drew gets well fast!

I must admit.

I still have a wreath over my bed, and on my front door….and I miss my tree and my mantle decorations (which I REdecorated on the 23rd after purchasing some new garland at this store).  Usually I am so anxious for it to go away but  I think the colder weather is making me just want to snuggle under quilts and look at Christmas lights…

I will honor Christmas in my heart, and try to keep it all the year.
