    Here is a peek at several projects i have been working on recently..one is local and the others are   e-consultations, done via email!

    First is the local project, a guest room. . I love that is a mix of high and low (Windsor smith stripe on shams, Williams Sonoma coverlet and inexpensive Joann’s fabric on drape edge)..more on this down the road…the installer took these photos..i will take more myself soon!

    It is so fun to see an actual room go from a brainstorm board like below to real life draperies and bedding and furniture and art..this was a local project… and we actually used things from this board in two different rooms..things often evolve from that initial brainstorming “board” whether locally or online.

    Lot of custom touchs…i was thrilled the workroom was able to do the exact monogram i wanted! Love the large size of the monogram too!

    I am also loving the before an after with this client below..she has worked so hard!  We used the Allen + Roth lighting on her project…

    BEFORE

    and the lovely after…

    I love how she did the drapes with PIPE for rods..great way to get a custom length and not have retractable/telescoping rods..they are my pet peeve..i want to change all of them in my house but custom rods can be so expensive..Jesse did great with PIPE! You can read more about her transformation on her cute blog, Scout & Nimble.  This girl is a pro with the Annie Sloan chalk paint too!

    The drapes are a Premier fabric called Netherlands..you can find it on their site! Very reasonable price fabric and so pretty!

    And last but not least I have enjoyed working with this last client so much.  She is on a tight budget and her family is going through a lot of stress healthwise but we wanted to do a few things to brighten her living room and their everyday life…here are some of the ideas..very basic but they have brightened her space!

    Again I used a Premier fabric for her drapes, Benjamin Moore’s revere pewter paint on the walls, a basic comfy Ektorp chair from Ikea and wonderful art from Red Letter Words as the centerpiece….We are hanging large black and white photos around the word art.

    Thanks Dee for helping us with the art! And that blue patterned paper that is framed..wrapping paper from Target!

    All of these projects are different price points but all so pretty. I am so blessed to be able to help people with their homes. i love my job!

    My client Analisa had painted her bedroom a pretty color and had a pretty bed, nightstands, lamps and rug she loved but still wanted to do a few things to complete her space… THE BEFORE

    It was so easy to finish this space off and now she and her husband really love it! THE AFTER…

    First thing we did was pivot her rug and add new bedding from West Elm, she looked at the ruched bedding at target and pottery barn but loved the set at West Elm best and it was on sale!  Walls are Benjamin Moore Atmospheric! I love how her white frames and mats look against the dark walls!

     And the doors!  she still has one to do but i love how you can see the difference…they are Chelsea Gray of course!  She is the client that did the painted doors in her hallway remember?!

     I think that little yellow chair from Anthropologie is her fave thing in the room…we would do the accent pillow on the bed larger if we had to do over and the doors need finishing but overall, the goal to freshen was a huge success! I won’t list all sources out of respect to my paying clients but isnt that chandelier awesome..from Overstock!  Thanks for letting me share Analisa!

    I have a new client near Boston, on the south shore, and i am jumping with excitement over this house.  BUILT IN THE 1840s, this historic CAPE COD is amazing! Just look.

    The client has some wonderful things to work with like this great map!

    This room is killing me..i mean really, that fireplace and wood?!  swoon. It’s small but that is part of the charm!

     The homeowners dont have children yet so i suggested they do silhouettes of their pets…I mean look at this dog, his name is Whaler, if a pet ever needed a silhouette done, its him, bowtie and all!

    Here is Whaler just hanging out around the house! Notice Coors the cat trying to escape the picture!

    I would love to hang out with Whaler right here and have some popcorn and watch THE HOLIDAY!   This cozy space is just off of the kitchen…near the dining room..which i already planning as well!

    And finally the kitchen, this is the actual kitchen not the inspiration photo from pinterest!;; LOOK AT THE FLOORBOARDS!!!!  And the sink!  I thought the counters were soapstone but they are black granite, could have fooled me!

    This Texas girl has never even been to New England but i sure do love this look! I promise to share photos as this project unfolds!  God bless the internet, without it I could never work on projects so far away..so fun!

    And thanks {C + T} for letting me share your home with my readers!

    Jenny and her family live in Oklahoma, I am in Texas so we did all of this work online..I even bought some drapes for her at IKEA and mailed to her (we may add more Aina drapes), apparently she lives quite a ways from the nearest IKEA… They should ship more can I get an amen on that?!

    Jenny did an amazing  job executing our ideas and zillion emails, she is a photographer so she has great style! I love how the layered look on her mantle turned out! Of course she had so much great stuff to work with!

    I love seeing my crude mock up of pillow ideas turn into real life pillows on a real life sofa in someone’s home..fun!

     Thanks for capturing the transformation Jenny…more to follow!

    {Yes that is the $799 Pier One nailhead sofa, we love it, pillow etc you can find on etsy, I will not be giving detailed sourcing on rooms out of respect to paying clients but i love giving peeks!}

    Or is it grey?  Anyway we wont dwell on that.  Let’s talk doors!  I am sure many of you have seen all of the fab yellor doors or black doors shown for interior spaces lately.  Actually Joni over at Cote de Texas is the first person i ever heard say “paint cheap interior doors black throughout a house”…i thought “wow that is interesting” now it seems the rage.  And Joni and all of the others are right..it really works.

    source

    Take for instance my client Analisa’s condo.  Doors doors everwhere doors.  But black seemed well too dark and BLACK (thought it looks amazing in the photo above!) so we did Chelsea Gray by Benjamin Moore, she even did a “half strength” on some doors. and everywhere it looks amazing.

    Since she hasnt painted the other door yet you can really see the difference…just amazing!  We also did this in her hallway upstairs.

    BEFORE

    and AFTER…ahhh much better!

    Good Job Analisa! You are so fun to work with! And a pretty good painter too..so impressed you took the doorknobs off!;

    And on a personal note I want to thiank you for all of the prayers, comments and emails about my mom and her illness.  I really appreciate the care and support.  She is actually having the best week she has had in several, no coincidence I am sure.  And for those of you who shared with me similar struggles, please know I am praying for you and your loved ones as well.

    Two sisters are going to share this room..they are now little girls but mom is hoping it will last them a while with tweeks here and there..i think this is a brilliant idea!

    It was mom’s idea to do a accent wallpaper on the bed wall, love this idea…With bold paper, even on just this one wall, the bedding can be very simple but chair upholstery and maybe drapes will be more bold (pink fabric from Lewis & Sheron)..i think by changing out accessories and art over time this room will grow with the girls for many years.

    LOVE this wallpaper by Graham & Brown (mom is not sure but i hope when she sees a sample she falls in love), linens from Pine Cone Hill including the pink check maybe for a duvet at the end of bed, monogram shams now, ruffle accent pillow from Layla Grace later, monograms by yours truly..! I think the flax color linen either on drapes or the table between the bed is really a nice contrast to all of the pink and color, you dont want it to be too “shelby from Steel Magnolias”!  Peacock print  by Sugarfresh of course. Linen banner inspiration from Olive Manna. Beds and chandelier from Restoration Hardware kids and the amazing bunny lamp is from Shades of Light! Dolls from Bla Bla of course.

    Girly stuff is so fun..i love my job!

    Several clients/friends and I met up with our little ones in Houston recently.  Remember the silhouette event i posted about here?  Well there is a shady park nearby, the perfect spot to let  Henry and the others burn off some energy after having to sit still (which he didnt really do..no shock) for the silhouette artist, so we planned a little meeting!

    It was really fun and immediately my clients and friends that had never met instantly clicked, HOW..by talking about blogs and bloggers!  The instant ice breaker..so fun! And the kids had fun even though i must say the parks are already hot in Texas, even in a shady beautiful park.  Oh and I guess we can discuss on blogs since its already happened..ha!  Notice my safety warning on the invite!;;

    Oh how i love that cowboy!

    We had a yummy box lunch from PICNIC! And Zachary and Henry hit it right off!

    And precious Jack with his curls…lots of boys!

    {I didn’t get many pictures because i was busy chatting and keeping an eye on a busy boy!}

    I love the old vintage playground equipment at this park! And the gorgeous trees.

    Henry ran and ran and was so sweaty but tired for the long ride home!! Which was great!

    It was so nice to see everyone, I got to see one client’s twins for the first time, and meet a FUN blog reader from Friendswood, and even this creative girl came, and she doesnt even have kids but she was such a good sport and even let Henry eat her chips! Those that didn’t make it, we missed you!  Maybe we will do this again sometime!

    I am offering a new little service to anyone interested!

    I am not a party planner or an entertaining expert and I am not presenting myself to you as one…BUT i love sourcing and brainstorming and planning and I would love to help others pull a CONCEPT and board of ideas together that you can work from to do it yourself…or at least develop a plan!

    I recently brainstormed these ideas for a friend’s bridal shower, her husband to be is a worship leader..i love the idea of copying sheet music and using them to make round circle garlands or flowers..not too much paper or too themey but just a touch.

    Or this jumping off point for a rustic wedding…

    Help finding products and sourcing..like these great bubble signs from armommy

    Or finding inspiration from sources online like this board on pinterest…taking it and breaking it down and meshing with other elements you love…customizing it for what you want to do!

    {board above minted.com blog via pinterest}

    There are many many fab site and ideas out there whether you are planning a wedding, baby shower, birthday or even just a special dinner party or regular ol’ play date you want to make special… BUT it is a lot to wade through and customize to your site and budget and LIFE!  I can help you break it down and keep it simple!

    Email me at {ehmathis@gmail.com} for pricing and to discuss..i plan to offer a very basic and mini and a more detailed back and forth to help you from brainstorming until the event!

    MANY of you know this mirror..so neat, well my client Elisabeth, along with her BRILLIANT husband. totally hacked it for pennies…!

    What do you think?? She hasn’t installed the mirrors and honestly i don’t if it will look as neat without the same weathered silvering on the Anthro mirrors..Does anyone know how to weather the silver on a mirror????? If not, I kind of like it empty. Sure the Anthro version is amazing but for a budget project this is really cute.  Of course I love empty frames!

    I think it looks great filling this space in her charming home in Portland!

    Love the stairs and her exterior..i am trying to convince her to paint her door yellow!

    Thanks for sharing with us Elisabeth..maybe she will chirp in the comments and tell us how she did it, screws, hot glue, ??  ha!

    Oh and FYI, Urban Market starts in Houston on Saturday…I  am excited that I will be there!

    Have a safe weekend!

    My e-client Joan has a new little beach house on the Texas coast, we are working via email to outfit two guest rooms with fresh decor. Lucky for me, the rooms have already been wrapped in beadboard!  One will be painted a creamy white and this room a soft blue!

    The room is tiny and filled with a large bed for guests so my strategy is to make the bedding beautiful!  This ruched bedding is available many places and at different price points…it’s great for a guest room because it’s easy to make and pretty even if “un-made!”  I love the use of the Pottery Barn shelf/mantle piece for a headboard….the little industrial carts for nightstands are from Urban Outfitters and they provide a wood tone and some warmth and visual weight for the floaty room.  Glass lamps can be found anywhere these days!  And i love the custom pillow from my peeps at Milk & Honey Home..they have some great fabrics and pillows in their shop if you want something unique!

    Joan probably isnt going to have room on her walls but i think a piece like one of these below from Sugarboo would be fun in the room too and add some color..i love their work!

    Be honest..would they scare you if you were a guest or intrigue? Perhaps a more serene piece like this…

    or

    {Art available here…yes i love thee Sugarboo!}

    Just wanted to share..i may need to make a trip down to Crystal Beach for an overnight once this project is complete..just to make sure its all comfy and complete you know!
