That's way less creepy than it sounds, I promise.

I am so excited! I have not made drapes for my boys bedroom yet because I haven't found the "perfect" fabric. When I saw this I immediately loved it, but the colors weren't right. Their room has brown, blue and grey. Then I saw the other colorway and almost jumped out of my chair! :) Thank you soooo much for posting this! I don't think I would have seen it otherwise.

I've been disappointed with Pottery Barn lately, too. Not everyone wants fake Tuscan/wine country! And can we come up with some other shades of linens than sage, thyme and country blue? I like CB2, not for high-quality furniture, but for modern splashes.

I am beginning to think I could do *all* of my shopping on Etsy. I did just about all of my Christmas shopping there, and it was so easy and so fun. With Valentine's Day and Easter coming up ... I've already gotten a few gifties for Jack and Amelia ... things that I could never have gotten anywhere else. If I am looking for something, Etsy is my first go-to, and nine times out of ten, I find it. This year, for Easter and V-day, I am getting them just a few sweets from local candymakers as opposed to gobs and gobs of the candy I usually get them. I just find that kind of shopping more emjoyable! I'm certainly not against big box stores/chains. I always get my picture frames at TJ Maxx, because they are exactly what I want and inexpensive! And I always buy Jack and Amelia's white tees at Wal-Mart... and then I have them personalized, monogrammed, or appliqued by local quilt ladies! :) When it comes down to it, I don't force myself to steer clear of any place. I'm just naturally drawn to the local shopkeeps, Etsy, and other small online shops. :)

Hi there! I try to mix the chain stores with local ones.....I've been buying a lot at antique stores lately, trying to support small businesses. I do feel guilty when I receive a package from Pottery Barn and it has "made in China" written all over it. However, as you mentioned with e-design, PB and other box stores are just easier to source. I have noticed with my local clients that a lot of them would rather give work to my carpenter than buy a a desk, bookcase, etc. from a chain store. They prefer the craftsmanship and quality of handmade. Have a nice weekend!

Interesting points Holly. Unfortunately, our local businesses are so overpriced there is no way I could support them for the majority of my purchases (except for local restaurants - which I work hard to keep in business). I understand that their markup needs to be higher because they don't handle the quantity of big stores...but sometimes they are waaaay out of line here. When I can find something unusual in a local store at a somewhat sensible price I will purchase from them in a heartbeat. I do not see the big box stores as really bad. They employ a tremendous amount of people here (in our country)...just think about how many local people work in Walmart, Target, and other big stores....which helps support our economy. It WOULD be nice if their products were mostly made in America. As far as Pottery Barn goes, I could get a zillion ideas from their catalogs and stores. What I REALLY love is the Pottery Barn outlet. Great ideas AND great prices!
Love the green checks, the bedroom from your pins, and the lights above the beds!

I love to mix. If I love something and it speaks to my aesthetic in some way, I honestly don't care if it's a one-of-a-kind antique or a mass-produced reproduction. What makes my home unique is the way I mix it all together. That being said, I feel good when I support the little guys. Maybe because I'm one of them. XO!

I'm a huge fan of Etsy not only for the craftsmanship and quality of the work but supporting small business. I've had some wonderful Etsy transaction and I always go there first for artwork and pillows. I'll have to check out your Etsy seller recommendation.
